Christian Dreger has extensive work experience in the field of economics. Christian started their career as a Research Associate at the University of Kassel in 1990 and worked there until 1995. From 1995 to 2005, they served as an Economist at IWH Halle. In 2003, they also became a Research Fellow at the Institute for the Study of Labour (IZA). In 2005, they joined DIW Berlin as a Senior Economist and later held positions as the Head of Department for Business Cycle Analysis and Forecasting, Head of Department for Macroeconomics, and Research Director for International Economics. Since 2010, they have been a Professor for Macroeconomics at the European University Viadrina. In addition, they became a Research Professor at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences in 2011. Overall, Christian Dreger has a diverse background in research, analysis, and teaching in the field of economics.
Christian Dreger completed their Master's degree (Diploma) in Economics at Freie Universität Berlin from 1983 to 1989. Christian then pursued their Doctoral and Habilitation Degree in Economics at the University of Kassel from 1990 to 1995, specializing in the Faculty of Economics. Additionally, they obtained a Habilitation in Economics from the University of Kassel between 2003 and 2005.
