Nelson Gaviria

Nelson Gaviria has a diverse work experience spanning over several roles and companies. Nelson is currently serving as the Sr. Director - Operations at Doctors HealthCare Plans, Inc. since March 2023. Prior to this, they worked as the Director - Fraud, Waste & Abuse at the same company from February 2019 to February 2023. Nelson also held the position of Director - Finance and Business Support at Oxfam from February 2018 to September 2018. Nelson Gaviria has previous experience as the Chief Financial Officer at CARE Perú from 2015 to 2017, and as the Executive Director at GSC Consult from 2009 to 2015. Before that, they worked at Oxfam Great Britain as the Project Director - LATAM from January 2008 to December 2008 and as the Regional Director - Finance & Business Support, South America from 2001 to 2008. Additionally, they have experience as the Chief Operating Officer at EsSalud in 1999, as the Director - Operations at Novasalud from 1998 to 1999, and as the Director - Provider Finance and Financial Analyst at Humana from 1991 to 1998.

Nelson Gaviria holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from Florida International University, which they obtained in 1991. Prior to their MBA, they completed their Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree at the same university in 1989, with a major in Finance and a minor in International Relations. Nelson also holds a High School Diploma from Markham College, acquired in 1984. In addition to their formal education, Nelson Gaviria has obtained additional certifications, including Executive Leadership for Healthcare Professionals from Cornell University in 2017 and Governance and Public Management from The George Washington University & Pontificia Universidad Catolica del Peru in 2003.
