Dr. Nick Withers

Dr. Nick Withers has a diverse range of work experience in the medical field. Dr. Nick began their career as the Medical Director of 24/7 Occupational & Emergency Medicine Solutions Inc. in 2014, where they launched the company and provided cost-effective solutions for occupational health needs. Dr. Nick also served as an Emergency Medicine Physician at Island Health - Vancouver Island Health Authority from 2013 to 2020, providing emergency medical care. In 2016, Dr. Withers became a Clinical Assistant Professor at The University of British Columbia in the Department of Emergency Medicine. Dr. Nick has held various Medical Director positions, including at Rio Tinto's Diavik Diamond Mines (2012) Inc., Arctic Canadian Diamond Company Ltd., Tibbitt to Contwoyto Winter Road Joint Venture, and Calian Group. Dr. Withers has also served as a Medical Consultant for Reticle Ventures Canada, partnering with them to deliver tactical medicine training and other services. Additionally, they are the Director of Dr. N. J. Withers Inc. and the Medical Director of CannaConnect, where they focus on delivering expert services to the Veteran population.

Dr. Nick Withers obtained their Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry from Memorial University of Newfoundland from 1989 to 1992. Dr. Nick then pursued their Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from the same university from 1992 to 1996. Following their MD, Dr. Withers completed a Family Medicine Residency Program at the University of Calgary from 1996 to 1998, earning a degree in Family Medicine (CCFP).

Throughout their career, Dr. Withers has also obtained several additional certifications. In 1998, they became a Certificant of the College of Family Physicians through the College of Family Physicians of Canada. Dr. Nick then acquired the title of Flight Surgeon from the Canadian Forces Environmental Medicine Establishment in 1999. In 2002, Dr. Withers obtained an Advanced Dive Medicine Officer / Hyperbaric Chamber Operations certification from the Canadian Forces Environmental Medicine Establishment.

Dr. Withers further expanded their expertise and knowledge with the completion of a Fellowship in the College of Family Physicians of Canada, awarded by the College of Family Physicians of Canada. This accomplishment occurred in 2011.

In terms of specialization, Dr. Withers obtained Special Competence in Emergency Medicine CCFP(EM) from The College of Family Physicians of Canada in 2013. Dr. Nick also received certification as an Independent Practitioner (Limited - Heart & Abdomen) from the Canadian Emergency Ultrasound Society in the same year.
