Carolyn Ahlers

Carolyn Ahlers has extensive experience in the field of cybersecurity, with a focus on malware analysis and reverse engineering. Carolyn most recently worked as a Principal Malware Analyst at Dragos, Inc., where they played a crucial role in analyzing and understanding malware threats. Prior to that, Carolyn worked as a Malware Analyst at Dragos, Inc., further developing their expertise in this area. Carolyn also served as an Infosec Skills Author at Infosec, where they created interactive learning material for cybersecurity professionals interested in reverse engineering malware.

Before joining Infosec, Carolyn worked at IPSecure, Inc. as a Reverse Engineer, where they specialized in analyzing and repurposing various malware samples. Carolyn also developed prototype Command and Control Servers using Python 3. Additionally, Carolyn has a background in the US Navy, serving in various roles such as Senior Malware/Forensic Analyst and Senior Malware/Media Forensic Analyst. Carolyn Ahlers earned a Bachelor's degree in Computer Networks and Cybersecurity from the University of Maryland Global Campus between 2015 and 2019. In addition to their degree, they obtained the GIAC Response and Industrial Defense (GRID) certification from the SANS Institute in March 2023 and the GIAC Reverse Engineering Malware certification from GIAC Certifications in October 2015.
