Barbara A. Marschalk’s practice is devoted to defending a wide range of corporations and individuals in multiple practice areas including the defense of claims involving alleged childhood sexual abuse and sexual misconduct, clergy malpractice, defense of claims against churches, national and local youth serving organizations and other eleemosynary institutions, professional malpractice defense (including medical malpractice, long-term care defense, and legal malpractice), personal injury, premises liability and other general litigation involving catastrophic injuries and/or wrongful death. Barbara also handles significant products liability matters for nationally recognized insurers and their insureds.

In her more than 20 years with the firm, Barbara has defended numerous high-profile cases throughout the state, many of which have been the subject of local, state-wide and even national media attention.

In her spare time, Barbara also acts as an Instructor at her alma mater, Georgia State University College of Law, where she teaches a three hour required course on Trial Advocacy to second year law students. She is a past Committee Chair for the Young Lawyers Division of the Georgia State Bar and has been active as a coach for Georgia State University College of Law's mock trial program. A local expert on trial practice, Barbara authored two chapters of Georgia Civil Trial Procedure, LexisNexis Practice Guide, 2011-2012 Edition (Chapter 5: Planning and Delivering Opening Statements; and Chapter 9: Planning and Conducting Cross-Examination).

Because of her extensive trial and litigation experience, Barbara has been a repeat presenter at multiple seminars, both locally and nationally, on long-term care litigation, trial advocacy, and general risk management issues. Her reputation is that she is tough, but fair, and interested in the most efficient resolution of matters consistent with her client’s goals. Barbara was selected as a Georgia Super Lawyers Rising Star by Atlanta Magazine in 2006 and 2008. She has also received an AV Preeminent Rating from Martindale Hubbell for her high ethical standards and professionalism. In 2008, she was also featured by the Fulton County Daily Report as one of Georgia's "Twelve Lawyers to Watch”. In the article, Barbara was described as a “force of nature” who “gets to the merit of the case…and focuses on the issues that matter.” In 2018, she was selected by her peers for inclusion in the Best Lawyers in America© 25th edition in the field of Insurance Law in Atlanta.
