Amir Zeid is an accomplished academic and leader with extensive experience in higher education and research. Currently serving as the Dean at the Dubai Institute of Design and Innovation since June 2023, Amir Zeid has been instrumental in restructuring the institute and overseeing accreditation, budgeting, and expansion planning. As the Founding Dean of the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences at the American University of Kuwait from August 2007 to June 2023, Amir Zeid led the strategic launch of the College and developed new undergraduate and graduate programs. Additional roles include serving as TEDxAUK Curator, Director of the Center for Research in Informatics, Sciences and Engineering, and various academic positions at respected institutions such as Dartmouth College and the American University in Cairo. Amir Zeid holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Carleton University and a BSc in Computer Science from The American University in Cairo.

Dubai Institute of Design and Innovation

In collaboration with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and The New School’s Parsons School of Design, Dubai Institute of Design and Innovation (DIDI) is a private, non-profit university, located at Dubai Design District (d3), accredited by the Ministry of Education in the UAE. With its first intake in 2018, DIDI is focused on nurturing, mentoring and creating the next generation of designers. The curriculum is designed to empower students to map out their own four-year educational journey, culminating in the region’s first Integrated Bachelor of Design degree, with a choice of concentration in the areas of Product Design, Multimedia Design, Fashion Design and Strategic Design Management.
