Michael Ryan has had a diverse experience in the media and communications field. Michael started their career as a Radio Journalist at Dublin's 98FM, where they covered sports before moving to news and eventually becoming a Political Correspondent. In 2008, they joined Today FM as a Radio Journalist and also took on the role of a desk editor and news bulletin reader for the national network. In 2009, they became a TV News Reporter at Virgin Media Television, where they worked for over a decade. In 2020, they joined Dublin City Council, first as the Head of Media Relations and later as the Deputy Head of Communications before transitioning to their current role as the Head of Communications.
Michael Ryan earned a Certificate in Strategic Communications for Local Authorities from the Public Relations Institute of Ireland in 2020. In 2016, they obtained a Certificate in Social Media from the European Institute of Communications. Prior to that, from 2015 to 2016, Michael completed a Diploma in Public Relations at the same institute. Michael earned a B.A. in Communications and an M.A. in Journalism from Dublin City University between 1996 and 2001.
