Badri Ananthanarayanan has a long and varied work experience. Badri began their career in 2002 as a Graduate Research Assistant at UC Santa Barbara in the Matthew Tirrell lab, where they devised a screening method based on molecular self-assembly to display extracellular matrix-derived peptides on surfaces. In 2009, they moved to UC Berkeley as a California Institute for Regenerative Medicine Scholar, where they initiated and pursued collaborations focused on the role of tissue microenvironment in cancer/stem cell biology and delineated molecular mechanisms of glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) tumor invasion in 3D brain-mimetic matrices. In 2015, they began working at Benitec Biopharma Ltd as a Senior Scientist, where they were the scientific lead on preclinical research and development of Benitec’s gene therapy programs in Oncology and Hepatitis B Virus infection. Badri also led the development of novel delivery technologies for Benitec's gene therapies. In 2018, they joined Earli as a Synthetic Bioengineer and in 2019 was promoted to Head of Delivery and then Director, Delivery at Earli Inc.

Badri Ananthanarayanan obtained a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering from the University of Mumbai in 2002, and went on to earn a PhD in Chemical Engineering from UC Santa Barbara in 2009.
