Nalin Moniz

Chief Investment Officer - Alternative Equity at Edelweiss Asset Management Limited

Nalin Moniz started their career as a Summer Analyst at Lehman Brothers in 2004. Nalin then joined Goldman Sachs in 2005 as a Portfolio Manager, where they gained valuable experience in quantitative global macro research and portfolio management. In 2009, Nalin fulfilled their dream of becoming an entrepreneurial professional and founded Forefront Capital Management, an alternative investment boutique in India. During their time at Forefront, they played a key role in shaping the Indian hedge fund industry and created the first-ever alternative investment fund in 2012. In 2014, Forefront was acquired by Edelweiss Asset Management Limited, where Nalin currently serves as the Chief Investment Officer - Alternative Equity. Under their leadership, the team has achieved top risk-adjusted returns among all Indian hedge funds and scaled the assets under management by 25x.

Nalin Moniz attended the American British Academy from 1999 to 2001, where they completed their International Baccalaureate. Prior to that, from 1996 to 1999, Moniz attended St Marys and obtained their ICSE.

In 2001, Moniz enrolled at the University of Pennsylvania where they pursued multiple areas of study. Moniz obtained a BS in Finance and Statistics from The Wharton School and a BSE in Computer Science from the University of Pennsylvania, completing both degrees in 2005. During their time at the University of Pennsylvania, Moniz also participated in the Jerome Fisher Program in Management & Technology and completed a minor in Mathematics.

Additionally, Moniz obtained a certification as a Chartered Financial Analyst from the CFA Institute USA in July 2009.
