Gabrielle Somers

Deputy Director, Internal Market Affairs Directorate at EFTA Surveillance Authority

Gabrielle Somers has a comprehensive work experience in the legal field. Gabrielle started their career as a Trainee Solicitor at McGrigors in 1998 and later went on to work as a Solicitor at Van Bael & Bellis from 2002 to 2004. In 2004, they joined The Scottish Government as a Lawyer for a year. Gabrielle then moved to Binder Grösswang in 2006, where they worked as a Legal Adviser for the entire year. In 2007, Gabrielle joined Norton Rose as a Solicitor and remained in that role until 2011. Gabrielle then joined the EFTA Surveillance Authority, initially as a Senior Officer and later as the Deputy Director of the Internal Market Affairs Directorate.

Gabrielle Somers has a strong educational background in the field of law. Gabrielle obtained their Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from The University of Edinburgh, where they studied from 1992 to 1996. During their studies, they also pursued a year of Erasmus studies at Aix-Marseille University in 1994-1995, focusing on French and European Law. After completing their LLB, Gabrielle went on to earn a Diploma in Legal Practice from The University of Edinburgh in 1997-1998. Gabrielle further enhanced their legal knowledge by pursuing a Master's Degree in European Law at the College of Europe, which they attained in 2000-2001.
