Virginia O'Neil has a diverse work experience in the chemicals industry. Virginia started their career as a Research Chemist at Dow Corning in 1988 and worked there until 1991. Then, they worked as a Product Development Chemist from 1992 to 1996. From 1997 to 1999, they served as a Personal Care Technical Service Professional. In 2000, they became the New Market Innovation and Technical Service Leader at Dow Corning, a role they held until 2005. From 2006 to 2008, they served as the Specialty Polymers Development Global Manager. At Dow Corning Corporation, they held various roles, including Geographic Development and Business Unit Knowledge Management Leader, from 2008 to 2012. Afterwards, they joined Dow Corning as the Analytical Sciences Manager in 2012. In 2013, they worked as the Operations Manager at Savant, Inc. Virginia then joined Arizona Chemical in 2014 as the Adhesives Technology Director, before moving on to Elkem Silicones in 2016 to become the Americas R&D & Global Innovation Program Director.

Virginia O'Neil completed their MBA in the executive program at Northwood University - DeVos Graduate School from 2005 to 2008. Prior to that, they obtained their Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Purdue University from 1984 to 1988.
