Mark Phillips

Principal Engineer, Generation at ENMAX

Mark Phillips has a diverse work experience in the energy and automation industries. Mark began their career at Bailey Controls / Elsag Bailey Process Automation in 1985, where they worked as a Technical Specialist and later became the Engineering Manager. From 1999 to 2005, they worked at ABB Inc. as the Manager for Utilities Automation, focusing on delivering optimal customer solutions for power generation facilities. Mark then joined TransAlta in 2005 as the Lead Engineer for Electrical & Controls. In 2009, Mark joined ENMAX as the Manager of Instrumentation and Controls, leading a team dedicated to new project implementations and engineering modifications. Mark was later promoted to Director of Engineering - Generation, where they provided overall leadership and management of the engineering team. Currently, Mark holds the position of Principal Engineer, Generation at ENMAX, where they provide expert technical knowledge and is responsible for the successful deployment of cybersecurity for Industrial Control Systems within power and thermal generation sites.

Mark Phillips obtained a Project Management Certificate from Mount Royal University in 2014-2015. Mark also holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Alberta, which they earned between 1980 and 1985. Additionally, Mark has certifications as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) from The Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) and as a Project Management Professional (PMP) from the Project Management Institute.
