Enveda is looking for an AVP, Biology to join our team in Hyderabad, India.

The contribution you will make:

You will lead our efforts in the discovery of natural product-derived bioactive compounds and support the development of novel drugs for diseases aligned with the company’s strategic priorities. You will lead and mentor our team to establish and validate biological assays related to the therapeutic area of our interest. In addition you will investigate disease relevant biomarkers, and disease-relevant end-points to support biological activity assessment of early “Hits” and Medicinal Chemistry efforts for “Hit” Assessment (HA), and delivery of robust data packages to support Clinical Candidate Selection (CS).In this role, you will be working closely with our team in Boulder Colorado and the Medicinal Chemistry team in India. Your accountabilities include timely delivery of pipeline milestones, rapid data-guided decisions on project priorities, succinct and effective project updates to the leadership team and project team mentoring, monitoring compliance and best practices in record keeping and generation of study reports to support regulatory filings.

As a leader of the Biology team, you will work closely with the Chief Product Officer and the Pipeline Interim Head of all Research and Development.

  • Provide leadership and management for a team of scientists to drive pharmacology strategy across all stages of drug discovery and development
  • Design, plan, and execute disease relevant studies under tight timelines
  • Seamlessly integrate with cross-functional leaders to continuously align on project priorities, objectives and outcomes
  • Contribute to regulatory filings at all stages of asset development.
  • Guide the preparation of study protocols, relevant SOPs, and methods in compliance to all applicable guidelines.
  • Interface with CROs for specific study areas to coordinate research activities

Who will thrive in this role?

  • PhD with minimum 12 years’ experience in drug discovery research in pharmaceutical industry with roles of increasing responsibility
  • Experience in managing drug discovery projects in multiple therapeutic areas e.g. metabolic, inflammatory and auto-immune disorders
  • Specific experience in mental health indications preferred (for eg. depression, anxiety, bipolar, and schizophrenia)
  • Desire and drive to learn and understand the basic biologic mechanisms underpinning our variety of products.
  • Experience managing a team of M.Sc / M.Pharm and PhD level Scientists in a laboratory setting
  • Ability to function productively and with the utmost integrity and professionalism in a highly dynamic, matrixed, fast-moving environment
  • Team player with excellent verbal and written communication skills including strong formal presentation skills and the ability to communicate complex scientific information in an understandable manner
  • Strong understanding of department safety for the external/internal safety audits
