Junjie Chen has a diverse work experience in the field of hydrology and environmental science. They have worked as a Hydrologist/Engineer at Environmental Science Associates, where they support design and analysis for various water resources and civil engineering projects. They have also assisted in the preparation of engineering analyses, design plans, reports, and permit applications.

Prior to this, Junjie worked as a Water Resource Specialist (Time Limited) at Sonoma County Water Agency. They have consolidated climate model data, wildfire severity data, and hydrologic data to investigate trends and patterns of wildfire impacts on watersheds and drinking water quality.

Junjie has also worked as a Research Hydrologist at the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), where they conducted research on hydrologic impacts from wildfires and created graphs, maps, and charts highlighting major findings for publication.

Junjie Chen began their education by earning a Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science with a focus on Quantitative Analysis from the University of Portland. Junjie attended the university from 2012 to 2016. Following this, they pursued a Master of Science degree in Hydrology at Portland State University and completed it in 2019. Currently, they are in the process of obtaining a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Hydrology from Portland State University, expected to be completed in 2023. In terms of certifications, they obtained the Hydrologist-In-Training certification from the American Institute of Hydrology in July 2023.
