Job Summary: 

The Manager of System Integration, Test, and Software reports directly to the Head of Aircraft Integration and heavily supports the Chief Engineer and the functional leaders in developing and executing the overall aircraft system integration development and coordinating the test laboratories that encompass the testing of both the aircraft’s mechanical components and supporting development software for compliance to the aircraft and certification requirements. This role demands a strategic leader with deep technical, systems engineering and integration, capable of developing and managing the various laboratory architectures that test and confirm the complex interplay between various aircraft subsystems. The successful candidate will ensure that all components work together seamlessly, meeting performance, safety, and regulatory requirements.  This manager collaborates with the engineering team in the requirements development process, the integration of system interfaces and supplier components, and the testing of the integrated vehicle. This key role works with the Head of Aircraft Integration, the Chief Engineer, and the engineering functional leadership to define and execute program plans as the aircraft transitions into Preliminary Design, Detailed Design, Flight Test, Certification and Entry-into-Service phases. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Teaming: Collaborate with the functional engineering leadership to define the system architectures, interfaces and requirements and test plans that will verify aircraft functions in the various test laboratories.

  • Supplier Management: Engage with suppliers on integrating their proposed hardware and software solutions into the test laboratories.

  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with engineering teams across structures, avionics, propulsion, mechanical systems, flight sciences and cabin systems to ensure cohesive system integration to meet aircraft requirements.

  • Systems Integration Leadership: Oversee the integration and development for the aircraft level functions (Mission Prediction, automated propulsion management and control, fuel / energy display) and testing of the integrated aircraft systems, ensuring they function together to meet design specifications and performance goals.

  • Software Management: Coordinate the integration of software with various aircraft systems. (Ex: CLAWS, EICAS, ELMS, IPS Controls)

  • Simulation:  Provide support of EOS engineering flight simulators and scope of specification for development of simulators with our partners to allow customer flight training.

  • Project Management: Lead the development of the test laboratories by creating the architecture, managing the build, schedule, and budget within requirements.

  • Testing and Validation: Develop and oversee comprehensive testing and validation protocols to ensure system performance and safety standards are met.  Create the program plan for overall full vehicle rigs, system rigs, and supplier component rigs to address TRL and risk mitigation plans.

  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks associated with structures and system integration, ensuring robust contingency plans are in place.  
    Works closely with the Head of AC integration, Chief Engineer, CTO, and Program Director with program risk management process.

Qualifications: 

  • Experience: Minimum of 15 years in aerospace engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership role focused on technology development, systems integration, and test.

  • Expertise: Extensive knowledge of aircraft systems and their integration, including avionics, electrical, propulsion, and mechanical systems.

  • Leadership: Exceptional team leadership and project management skills, with a history of managing large test rigs configurations with the goal of testing for certification credit.

  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to address technical challenges in system integration.

  • Communication: Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, capable of effectively collaborating with internal teams, suppliers. And partners

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field. A Master’s degree or higher in a relevant engineering discipline or business development is preferred.
