Bernard Delbecque

Member Of Esma's Investor Trends And Research Working Group at European Securities and Markets Authority

Bernard Delbecque is a seasoned economist with extensive experience in the financial and academic sectors. Since December 2021, Bernard has served as a member of both the Investor Trends and Research Working Group and the Group of Economic Advisers at the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA). Bernard has been the Senior Director of Economics and Research at the European Fund & Asset Management Association since January 2016, and has held prominent roles at the European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority, including Chair and Vice-Chair of the Occupational Pensions Stakeholder Group, which engages a diverse group of 30 experts. Bernard's academic contributions are reflected in a long-standing position as a Professor of Economics at Université catholique de Louvain since January 1991. Previous roles include key economic advisory positions in the Belgian government and at the International Monetary Fund. Bernard earned a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania and holds both MA and BA degrees in Economics from Université de Namur.
