Associate Controller

Job description

The Associate Controller is responsible for supervising accounting in general and monitoring internal controls, providing excellent customer service for internal and external clients. This includes financial activities, project support, reporting and ensuring compliance with company policies, internal control and accounting practices. Associate Controller is responsible for ensuring that all accounting allocations are appropriately made and documented, oversees reconciliation functions in general. Provides financial information to management by researching and generating value throughout the organization.

Main Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent customer Service support
  • Implement and support projects in the Finance department in accordance with strategy and methodology established.
  • Makes sure financial operation is aligned to corporate and accounting policies following up on internal controls & SOX Compliance.
  • Control assets and inventories by monitoring and enforcing internal procedures.
  • Complies with local regulation by keeping updated on existing and new legislation (PROCOMER, Hacienda, CCSS, Customs Agency, etc.); and advise management as needed.
  • Leads day-to-day accounting operations and ensure that there is a process backup in place for every critical operation.
  • Leads month, quarter and year-end closeout accounting schedules by guidance check list control.
  • Analyzes profit and loss flux variances and initiate corrective action as needed.
  • Prepares special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Maintains financial staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
  • Lead audit visits (SOX, Corporate, Local) and ensure requirements are properly prepared and maintains a fluent communication with the auditors towards additional requests/questions received.
  • Be responsible for Product Costing and Profitability Analysis

Requirements

Essential

  • University degree in Accounting, Finance or other related area or equivalent experience. CPA preferred.
  • English High level (B2+ and up)
  • Experience on Manufacture Industries, Medical Industries, Finance Shared Services
  • Experience on cost accounting or related areas
  • Fixed assets management
