Dr. Matthias Röttgermann has a diverse work experience spanning several companies and roles. Dr. Matthias started their career in 1990 as a Student Research Assistant at Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg, where they assisted in teaching courses related to Zoology and Botany. Dr. Matthias then worked as a Research Assistant at Universität Bielefeld, focusing on Genetics and Experimental Ecology, before joining Dr. Josef Raabe Verlags-GmbH as a part-time employee, working on Geography-related tasks.

In 1999, Dr. Röttgermann began working at DATAreform GmbH, initially handling software development, sales, and customer support for retail clients. Dr. Matthias progressed to become a Team Leader, overseeing software development programs and eventually assuming the role of Project Manager, responsible for architecture, development, and management of retail software projects.

Dr. Röttgermann joined Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG in 2012, where they were involved in embedded software development for the company's Postpress division. Dr. Matthias then transitioned to ZEISS Group in 2015, working briefly as a Software Developer for Industrial Metrology Visualization.

From 2014 to 2017, Dr. Röttgermann served as a Team Lead, managing the Bootmanager and Software Architecture team at Bosch Rexroth. Following this, they joined Bosch in 2018 as a Senior Project Manager, overseeing various projects for the company until 2022.

In 2021, Dr. Röttgermann took on the role of Mayoral Candidate for a municipal election, before joining ETAS in 2023 as a Senior Project Manager. Dr. Matthias then assumed the role of People Lead / Epic Owner Network AUTOSAR Classic and later became the People Lead for the Area Stuttgart at ETAS.

Dr. Matthias Röttgermann completed their Ph.D. in Biology, specializing in Biology, ecosystems, and ecophysiology, from Bielefeld University from 1995 to 1998. Prior to that, they obtained their Dipl. Biologe, Note sehr gut (equivalent to a diploma degree in Biology with an excellent grade), from The Julius Maximilians University of Würzburg from 1988 to 1995. Dr. Matthias also pursued additional education in various fields, including Embedded Systems from the Medizinisch-technische Akademie Esslingen am Neckar in 2015-2016, Informatik and Mathematik with a focus on teaching from Heidelberg University in 1999, and Geography and Geology with a teaching focus from the University of Münster. Dr. Matthias has also completed a Seminar in Informatik Java from FernUniversität in Hagen and a Zwischenprüfung Sek II (Geography/Biology) from the University of Münster.
