Role Summary

The Electrical Engineer will be working on electrical projects on behalf of the Company and will involve projects ranging from LV through to 132kV. It will involve working as part of a team to Review Distribution Network Operator (DNO) Contestable Connection Offers and completing designs that conform to the relevant DNO policies, British and IEC standards. They will also be required to assist in the design of various types of energy projects on customer private networks, principally Solar Farms and Battery Energy Storage facilities, however the customer private network could be for any purpose, whether this be a generation plant or a demand/load connection. The electrical engineer will be responsible for assisting the lead electrical engineer with the mentoring of trainee and graduate electrical engineers.

Main Responsibilities

  • Work as part of a team.

  • Liaise and collaborate with various departments including: Commercial, Delivery and Health and Safety.

  • Demonstrates leadership skills in all aspects of the business activities.

  • The guidance and mentoring of electrical engineers and graduate engineers to help the business needs.

  • The management of the design of projects on both the grid connection and private network infrastructure from LV up to and including 132kV.

  • Working on multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Follow all published guidelines, standards, policies, and procedures to ensure satisfactory delivery of work.

  • Maintain and develop competence level and technical skills to ensure delivery to high standards.

  • Attend training as required to maintain knowledge and application of systems and procedures.

  • Attend Site visits if required with construction team to ensure smooth design delivery.

Person Specification

Essential

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering.

  • AutoCAD experience.

  • 5 years + Experience in a Contracting/Consulting.

  • Sound numeracy skills.

  • IT systems experience and competency.

  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).

  • Full clean driving licence.

  • Project Management Experience.

  • HV/EHV experience.

  • Experience working with IDNO’s, DNO’s or ICP’s.

  • Working to BSEN, IEC ,IEEE & CENELEC Standards.

  • Management of the Drawing register and design submissions to the DNO/Client.

Desirable

  • Other Electrical qualifications.

  • Google Earth experience.

  • Power system modelling.

  • Master’s degree (Power).

  • Ability to create a design delivery programme.

  • CEng.
