Role Summary

We are currently looking to bring on board an experienced Commissioning Engineer to join our growing Renewable Energy team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the commissioning of large-scale solar PV farms and battery systems across the UK as well as SAP/CE for Ethical power.

Main Responsibilities

  • Ensuring as-built drawings/documents are marked up correctly and updated where necessary.

  • Produce all the commissioning documentation, including programme and test procedures.

  • Manage all the commissioning activities required within a large solar farm project (from HV connection to modules and auxiliary systems such as active management system, SCADA, etc.)

  • Manage G99 requirements

  • Manage interface activities with ICP

  • Facilitate transition from construction phase to operations & maintenance (O&M)

  • Support contract negotiations (technical schedules) for new tenders

  • Build and manage a team of commissioning experts with BYES

  • Undertaking FAT, including reviewing of procedures, attending FAT and adjusting commissioning tasks to integrate FAT successes and deficiencies.

  • Attend site and interact with suppliers, construction teams, sub-contractor, and grid connection providers to ensure safe and successful commissioning program

  • SAP/CE- acting as CE for HV teams while maintaining HV code of practice

  • Supporting AP person within the business

  • Working with Quality & Compliance to make sure all requirements are met from commissioning team

  • Coordinate all the activities from all suppliers’ and subcontractors’ commissioning teams for both Cold and Hot Commissioning period.

  • Early-stage and final planning of Testing and Commissioning of the project

  • Quality assurance for the complete electrical installation (main electrical DC/AC, LV/MV/HV components, and communication/SCADA systems)

  • Management of Contractors

  • Support/doc handover to 3rd party/O&M

Person Specification

Essential

  • Must have previous experience of commissioning large scale Solar PV farms

  • SAP/CE experience

  • Knowledge and experience of G99 testing

  • Flexible approach with the ability to travel across various sites within the UK and working away from home

  • 18th Edition qualified electrician

Desirable

  • Gained relevant experience of commissioning activities within the electrical contracting or utility industries

  • Flexible and organised to manage workload to meet deadlines

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills

  • High level of leadership ability and able to oversee a multi‐national workforce in a dynamic situation

  • Robust technical electrical engineering knowledge within the power sector with experience of commissioning including:

  • Primary / secondary injection testing

  • Relay programming and configuration (Micom, Sepam, Siemens, ABB)

  • AC and DC pressure testing

  • Cable testing (VLF, fault tracing and location)

  • Switchgear and transformer testing
