Jesus Aguirre is a NERC Independent Research Fellow and Senior Researcher at the School of Geography and the Environment, University of Oxford, since March 2021. With a background as a PhD candidate at Naturalis Biodiversity Centre and the University of Amsterdam from July 2011, Jesus Aguirre specializes in biodiversity responses to environmental change, primarily focusing on the Netherlands and connections to Mexico's Pine and Oak forests. Previous experience includes roles as a Research Assistant at the Universiteit van Amsterdam, Co-Coordinator for Indigenous Mission Bawinokachi, and an Intern at the Instituto de Tecnologia Química e Biológica. Jesus Aguirre holds a PhD in Ecology and Biodiversity Conservation and a Master’s Degree in Tropical Ecology from the University of Amsterdam, alongside a Licence in Biology from Universidad de Guadalajara.
