Maria Witmer-Rich has held a variety of roles in the environmental and quality assurance fields over the last 19 years. From 2001-2010, they worked as an Environmental Scientist at Acacia Environmental Group, LLC, where they researched air and water quality standards and regulations, reviewed environmental permits, and summarized and interpreted technical articles. From 2010-2013, they worked as an Environmental Analyst at Millman National Land Services, where they prepared National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) checklists, evaluated and researched NEPA criteria, and communicated with federal and state agencies to determine compliance. From 2013-2017, they worked as an R&D Lab Analyst at System Seals Inc, where they tested and validated materials, evaluated material compatibility, and developed, tested and optimized polymer thermosets. In 2017, they began working at Etna Products, Inc., where they served as a Compliance Specialist & Tech Service and Quality and Regulatory Compliance Manager. In these roles, they received, tested and validated metal-working fluid samples, managed regulatory requirements, authored and edited product SDSs, and led the company in fulfilling quality requirements and audit compliance with ISO 9001:2015.
Maria Witmer-Rich obtained a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Chemistry from Goshen College between 1992 and 1996. Maria then went on to earn a Master of Science (M.S.) in Chemistry from the University of Michigan in 1999.
