Flavio Murolo

Meteosat Operations Manager at EUMETSAT

Flavio Murolo has a strong background in space engineering and operations. Flavio started their career in 1998 at ThalesAlenia Space, where they served as the AOCS Responsible for various Earth Observation missions. In this role, they were responsible for AOCS design, performance, and qualification campaigns. Flavio then joined Telespazio VEGA Deutschland GmbH in 2004 as a Principal S/C Ops Engineer, working on the Herschel-Planck AOCS project. During this time, they contributed to the end-to-end integration and verification activities and defined operational concepts and requirements. In 2007, Flavio founded and served as the CEO of IMS Space consultancy while also working at EUMETSAT as an Instrument Operation Engineer for EPS-METOP. Their responsibilities included planning and executing spacecraft operations, analyzing performance, and supporting instrument reviews. At EUMETSAT, they also held various leadership positions, including Platform Team Leader for the Meteosat satellites fleet, MTG ops prep team leader, and MSG-4 LEOP Manager. Notably, they played a key role in the operations preparation and support of the MTG-I1 launch and negotiated a complex contract for in orbit operations. Flavio Murolo's expertise and experience make him a valuable asset in the field of space engineering and operations.

Flavio Murolo has a diverse education history. Flavio began their academic journey in 1993 at Università degli Studi di Napoli Federico II, where they pursued a Master's degree in Aeronautics and Space Engineering. This program lasted from 1993 to 1999. Following this, they attended Sapienza Università di Roma from 1998 to 2000, specializing in GPS and navigation research.

In 2000, Flavio enrolled at Saint Louis de France, where they focused on French Language studies and obtained a DELF A4+ (B1/B2) certificate. Moving forward to 2012, they sought further education at The George Washington University School of Business, focusing on Team Leadership, Project Management, Communication, and Risk Management. This program lasted from 2012 to 2013.

In 2014, Flavio attended the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management for Advanced Negotiation studies. Finally, in 2019, they pursued a program at Hult Ashridge for Strategy Actuation, specializing in Business Administration and Management, General.
