Jenny Rourke

Jenny Rourke has a diverse work experience in the field of meteorology. Jenny is currently working as the Head of Real Time Service and System Operations Division at EUMETSAT starting from October 2022. Prior to that, they held the position of Head of Production Services at ECMWF from March 2019 to October 2022. Jenny also worked as the Deputy Chief Meteorologist at the Met Office from February 2015 to March 2019.

Before their role at the Met Office, they were a Senior Operational Meteorologist at the UK Met Office, where they led and managed the delivery of operational services and worked towards increasing effectiveness and efficiency of operational service delivery. Jenny held this position from September 2009 to February 2015.

In addition, Jenny has experience in research and coordination roles. Jenny worked as a Weather Impact Scientist at the Met Office from March 2013 to July 2014, where they conducted research and collaborated with various internal and external partners. Jenny also served as the Coordinator for the Natural Hazards Partnership from March 2012 to March 2013, where they were responsible for coordinating projects and meetings and improving services provided by the partnership.

Jenny Rourke completed their education in the field of meteorology. Jenny obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Meteorology from the University of Reading, where they studied from 2002 to 2006. After that, they pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Seasonal Prediction of African Rainfall, with a focus on Kenya, at UCL from 2006 to 2010.

In addition to their academic qualifications, Jenny obtained certifications to further enhance their expertise in meteorology. Jenny became a Chartered Meteorologist (CMet) through the Royal Meteorological Society (RMetS) in May 2016. Prior to that, in April 2014, they obtained the title of Registered Meteorologist (RMet) from the same institution.
