Rui Mestre

Data Processing Systems Engineer at EUMETSAT

Rui Mestre has a strong background in software engineering and data processing systems. Rui started their career at SISCOG in 1997, where they worked as a Software Engineer and focused on solving complex scheduling problems using advanced Artificial Intelligence and Operational Research techniques. During their time at SISCOG, they were involved in various projects, including resource scheduling and planning for the Danish State Railway company.

In 2007, Rui joined Deimos Engenharia as a Senior Software Engineer. In this role, they served as the Technical Manager for projects such as S2G, ESOVng, and openSF for the ESA/ESTEC Earth Observation Department. Rui was also responsible for the software development of the Mission Planning System component of the EDRS-MOC for Airbus/ESA. Additionally, from 2010 to 2012, Rui held the position of Software Development Manager in the MSF element of the Ground Mission Segment of the GALILEO Programme for ESA.

In 2017, Rui joined HE Space Operations as a Data Processing Systems Engineer, where they continued to contribute their expertise in this field. Rui worked on various projects until 2018, when they moved to EUMETSAT for a similar role as a Data Processing Systems Engineer.

Overall, Rui Mestre has extensive experience in software engineering, particularly in the areas of data processing systems and resource scheduling.

Rui Mestre completed their Master's degree in Computer Science - Artificial Intelligence at Instituto Superior Técnico from 1992 to 1997.
