Maarit Kokki

Maarit Kokki has extensive experience working in various roles related to public health and policy. From 2019 onwards, they have served as the Head of the Executive Office at the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC). Prior to this, they held the position of Senior Adviser to the Director and Head of International Relations at ECDC from 2009 to 2019. Earlier in their career, they worked as a Policy Officer at the European Commission from 2002 to 2009, with a focus on public health. Overall, Maarit Kokki has a strong background in public health policy and has held senior positions in both the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control and the European Commission.

Maarit Kokki's education history begins in 1978 when they enrolled at the University of Kuopio to pursue a degree in Medicine. Maarit completed their studies in 1984 and earned the title of Doctor of Medicine (MD). From 1986 to 1990, Maarit attended the University of Tampere 1925-2018, specializing in Clinical Microbiology. Following that, they pursued further specialization at the University of Eastern Finland from 1990 to 1994, focusing on Internal Medicine. Finally, Maarit Kokki completed their education at the University of Helsinki from 1994 to 1996, becoming a Specialist in Infectious Diseases.
