Byford Tsang

Byford Tsang is currently a Senior Policy Fellow at the European Council on Foreign Relations, beginning in September 2024. Previously, Byford served as a Senior Policy Advisor at E3G from August 2020 to August 2024, where responsibilities included leading China diplomacy and geopolitics work, building a team, and authoring policy briefings on China's energy policies. Prior experiences include roles as a Senior Analyst at Trucost, where Byford focused on environmental data and risk analysis, and as an Analyst for Climate Change at the Children's Investment Fund Foundation, managing philanthropic grants related to sustainability in China and Brazil. Additional experience includes consulting for RESET Carbon Ltd., assisting with environmental assessments at AECOM, and research assistant positions at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. Byford holds a Master’s degree in Environment and Development from the London School of Economics and a Bachelor’s degree in Geography and Resource Management from The Chinese University of Hong Kong.
