YOUR ROLE

The Director of Clinical Information Systems oversees a team responsible for translating business requirements into functional specifications and product configuration for a variety of clinical systems. You will partner with your leader and our clinical innovations team to set product strategy, define processes, and oversee build and configuration in partnership with stakeholders and external vendors. You will focus on delivering insights to support key business decisions, delivering on critical initiatives, and supporting the product organization by helping to identify value-creation opportunities across the business.  You will help support vendor management and provide accountability, work prioritization, and partner in decision-making as it pertains to Clinical Information Systems such as the Innovaccer Product Suite and athenaOne.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS

  • Develop and implement strategic plans for clinical information systems aligned with the organization's goals and objectives.
  • Stay abreast of technological advancements in healthcare and information systems to inform strategic decisions.
  • Oversee the implementation of clinical information systems, ensuring successful integration with existing systems and workflows.
  • Collaborate with IT teams to manage system upgrades.
  • Gather and prioritize requirements from stakeholders, ensuring the continuous alignment of the system with evolving organizational needs.
  • Facilitate the development of new features, improvements, and innovations in collaboration with relevant teams, emphasizing user-centric design and functionality.
  • Lead a team of IT professionals, including product managers and configuration analysts.
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative team culture, promoting professional development.
  • Maintain technical product roadmap to support clinical strategy.
  • Provide ongoing support and troubleshooting to address user issues and optimize system usage.
  • Collaborate with clinical staff and other stakeholders to understand their needs, and identify platform enhancements and new features and incorporate feedback into system improvements.
  • Communicate product changes to business owners.
  • Monitor industry trends and advancements to inform product development strategies and maintain a competitive edge in the healthcare IT landscape.
  • Foster strong relationships with vendors, ensuring effective communication and problem resolution.
  • Continuously optimize clinical information systems to enhance efficiency and user experience.
  • Lead initiatives to improve the quality of patient care through the effective use of clinical information systems.
  • Evaluate and implement best practices to enhance overall healthcare delivery.
  • Refine product management utilizing our PM tool, Aha!
  • Enforce policies related to the use, access, and security of clinical information systems.
  • Understand the management of clinical data, ensuring accuracy and integrity.
  • Escalate urgent issues to the proper stakeholders.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor during customer interactions with the product.

YOU’RE GOOD AT

  • Background in clinical product design, development, and implementation
  • 5+ years as a Product Owner or Senior Level Product Manager (eMR, care management, or ancillary clinical applications)
  • 5+ years of people leadership
  • 3+ years leveraging product management/release planning tools such as Aha!, Jira, etc.
  • 2+ years with cloud-based platforms, API/HL7/CDA Integrations, data vocabularies and data migration
  • 2+ years managing external vendor relationships and delivery teams.
  • Experience in Healthcare, Computer Science, Clinical Informatics or Related Field.  Clinical license a plus.
  • Providing subject matter expertise in clinical systems to internal and external stakeholders
  • Identifying and measuring core business levers (KPIs, and OKRs)
  • Willingness to perform deep-dive analysis across functions and products to deliver detail-oriented analyses to business partners.
  • Ability to collaborate with operations, clinical, technical, sales, marketing, and finance teams to prioritize and deliver strategic initiatives.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to deliver simple and actionable recommendations.
  • You accept that things change quickly in a startup environment and are willing to pivot quickly on priorities.
  • You are willing and able to travel up to 25% of the time
  • You’re able to handle and manage competing demands with diplomacy and enthusiasm

Pay range for this role is $150,000 to $160,000, with exact pay determined based on experience, education, demand for role, and other role-specific criteria.
