Peetak Mitra

Founding Team + Founding Scientist at Excarta

Peetak Mitra, PhD has a diverse background in AI, weather intelligence, and climate change. Currently they are working as a founding scientist at Excarta, a VC-backed deeptech AI/weather company. Before that, they were a part of the core team at Climate Change AI. Peetak also worked at PARC as a member of the Research Staff. While there, they played an instrumental role in several initiatives, such as developing AI-powered personalized healthcare projects and working as the lead data scientist for IoT-based health monitoring and prognostics projects. Additionally, Peetak was a co-founder of ICEnet, a company that leverages the power of Artificial Intelligence to develop predictive machine learning algorithms to improve engine design, using AI leaders such as NVIDIA and MathWorks. Moreover, Peetak served as an HPC/AI research intern at Total where they worked on developing scalable machine learning methods to detect anomalies in sequential datasets obtained from non-intrusive magnetic flux measurements for asset integrity applications. Furthermore, Peetak was a computational physics intern with the Computational Physics and Methods group at Los Alamos National Lab and a Graduate Research and Teaching Assistant at Syracuse University, where they developed a framework to model negative pressures in flow within nanochannels.

Peetak Mitra, PhD began their education in 2009 when they enrolled in the Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra and pursued a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Civil Engineering. After successful completion of their undergraduate studies, they pursued a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Massachusetts Amherst between the years 2016 and 2021.
