Chason J. Coelho, PhD, CSP, CFI has a range of experience in the fields of human factors, safety, and risk management. Chason J. has worked in various industries including aviation, aerospace, oil and gas, marine, mining, construction, manufacturing, and utilities. With a background in cognitive neuroscience, they specialize in human motor control and applies interdisciplinary expertise to issues such as human error prevention, decision making, human reliability, safety in design, human-machine interfacing, warnings and labels, and ergonomics. Chason J. has provided expert analysis and testimony in legal cases and also has experience in analyzing complex human-machine interfaces in safety-critical industries. Chason J. has worked at Exponent as a Principal Scientist since 2018 and previously held roles as a Senior Managing Scientist and Managing Scientist. Prior to that, they worked at the American Bureau of Shipping as a Senior Human Factors and Risk Engineer. Chason J. also has experience working at Lockheed Martin in the International Space Station Program as a Human Factors Design Engineer. Chason J. has an academic background with positions as a Lecturer and Doctoral Candidate at Penn State University and a Graduate Research Assistant at the University of Chicago. Chason J. also had an internship at Exponent, Inc. in the field of human factors and occupational safety.

Chason J. Coelho, PhD, CSP, CFI has a strong educational background. From 2008 to 2013, they attended Penn State University, where they earned a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Psychology, specializing in Cognitive Neuroscience and Human Motor Control. Prior to that, from 2005 to 2007, they studied at UCLA and obtained a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Psychology.

In addition to their academic achievements, Chason has also obtained several certifications. Chason J. became a Vehicle Rescuer/Extrication Technician through the Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service in November 2017. Chason J. also holds the certification of Registered Emergency Medical Technician - Basic, which they obtained from the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians in June 2016.

Furthermore, Chason has obtained certifications such as Certified Ergonomics Assessment Specialist, Certified Fire Investigator, Certified Motorcycle RiderCoach, Certified Safety Professional, Licensed Motorcycle Safety Instructor, Open Water Diver, Private Aircraft Pilot, Process Safety Practice Certificate, State Firefighters' and Fire Marshals' Association (SFFMA) Firefighter II, and SFFMA Technical Rescue Apprentice.
