Douglas Pires

Douglas Pires has a diverse work experience in the field of data science and research. Douglas is currently serving as the Director of Data Science at Exscientia since 2023. Prior to this, they held the position of Associate Professor at the University of Melbourne from 2019 to 2023, where they also worked as a Senior Lecturer from 2019 to 2022. Before joining the University of Melbourne, Douglas worked as a Researcher at Fiocruz from 2014 to 2019. Douglas also has experience as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Cambridge from 2012 to 2014.

Douglas Pires earned a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Computer Science from Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais, where they studied from 2005 to 2009. Douglas further pursued their education at the same university and completed a Doctor of Science (D.Sc.) degree in Bioinformatics from 2009 to 2012.
