Lester Carter

Associate Director, Data Integration And Analysis at Exscientia

Lester Carter has more than 20 years of experience in bioinformatics, structural genomics, and data analysis. Lester currently holds the position of Associate Director of Data Integration and Analysis at Exscientia. Prior to that, they worked as a Senior Discovery Data Wrangler at Exscientia and as a Principal Scientist at LifeMine Therapeutics. Lester also has experience as a Biomarker Data Curator at Genentech, a Data Wrangler and Data Curator at PharmGKB - Stanford School of Medicine, and a Structural Biologist at Ambry Genetics.

Lester Carter has a strong research background and has held positions as a Researcher at Stanford Linear Accelerator Center (SLAC), University of Saint Andrews, and Oxford University, where they completed their doctorate in Structural Genomics/Bioinformatics. Lester has actively contributed to various projects, such as the development of online databases, bioinformatics tools, and the analysis of protein structures. Additionally, they have experience in scientific editing and outreach through their role as a Scientific Editor for the Protein Structure Initiative (PSI) Technology Portal at LBNL / UC Berkeley.

Lester Carter obtained a Doctorate degree in Bioinformatics and Structural Biology from the University of Oxford from 2001 to 2005. Prior to that, they earned a Diploma in Computer Science from the University of Cambridge in 2000-2001. Lester'sundergraduate degree is a Bachelor of Science in Anatomical Sciences (Honors - First Class) from the University of Dundee, which they completed from 1996 to 2000. In addition to their formal education, Lester has achieved certifications in AWS Fundamentals: Going Cloud-Native and Agile Software Development from Coursera, as well as Google Cloud Platform Fundamentals: Core Infrastructure from Google.
