Olivier Barbeau

Olivier Barbeau has a diverse work experience in the field of medicinal chemistry and drug design. Starting in 2002, they worked as a PhD. Studentship in medicinal chemistry at the Northern Institute for Cancer Research, where they gained industrial experience in collaboration with Kudos Pharmaceuticals Ltd. Olivier then worked as a Postdoctoral fellow at CNRS - Université de Cergy-Pontoise, France, where they focused on the synthesis and conformational studies of chiral fluorinated pseudoprolines. Olivier also worked as a Medicinal chemist at the Institute of Cancer Research, where they contributed to a hit to lead campaign on novel inhibitors of the Wnt signaling pathway.

Moving forward, Olivier joined Sesmos Ltd. as a Senior Scientist, where they contributed to the development of a novel integrated screening and validation process for drug discovery. Olivier later worked as a Chemistry team leader at The University of Edinburgh before transitioning to Evotec, where they served as a Senior Scientist and eventually became a Medicinal Chemistry Team Leader.

In their most recent role, Olivier is currently working at Exscientia, starting as a Senior Drug Designer and currently serving as the Associate Director of Drug Design. Their responsibilities at Exscientia involve using artificial intelligence and all available data to discover small molecule clinical candidates in a rapid cycle time. Olivier's work experience showcases their expertise in medicinal chemistry, drug design, and their ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
