Michael O'Connor has a diverse work experience in the field of data and customer insight. Michael started their career in 2002 at dunnhumby, where they held various roles including Senior Client Director and Senior Business Consultant. During their time at dunnhumby, they worked with clients across sectors such as financial services, telecoms, travel, FMCG, and retail, leading cross-functional teams and delivering high-value insight. In 2008, they joined Clear Cell Group as the Group Marketing Director and Lead Consultant, where they provided customer insight advisory services and led the Marketing & Sales Global Team. In 2012, they worked as a Client Director at more2, specializing in e-commerce, multi-channel retail, and marketing. At Communisis, where they worked from 2013 to 2014, they were a Business Development Director responsible for growing and managing their own sales pipeline and supporting account management. From 2014 to 2020, they worked at Orchid as a Director. Currently, they hold the role of Director of Corporate Products & Strategy at Fable Data since 2020.

Michael O'Connor attended Thornleigh Salesian College from 1989 to 1996. Michael then pursued their undergraduate studies at the University of Oxford from 1996 to 1999, where they obtained a First Class, M.A. (Oxon) degree in Geography. Following that, Michael furthered their education at The University of Edinburgh from 1999 to 2000, earning a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Geographical Information Science (GIS).
