Jerson Lima Silva is a distinguished academic and leader in the field of Biochemistry. Currently serving as both Professor and Director at Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro, Jerson holds the position of President at Fundação Carlos Chagas Filho de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (FAPERJ) since January 2019. In addition, Jerson is a Professor Titular at UFRJ and has been affiliated with the institution since March 1987. Jerson's leadership roles include Director of the National Institute of Science and Technology for Structural Biology and Bioimaging (INBEB) and Director of the Jiri Jonas National Center for Nuclear Magnetic Resonance.
