Ann-Marie White

Ann-Marie White first heard about Farm & Wilderness from friends in New York who were campers. It was the only camp where all the stories sounded fun and empowering rather than cliquish and scary. As she got older, some of the kindest, most thoughtful and most mature young adults she met either were raised with Quaker values, F&W campers or graduates of The Putney School. Eventually, Ann-Marie became the Academic Dean at the Putney School where she was the dorm head for Rebecca Geary's (F&W Executive Director) daughter. Talking with Rebecca, rekindled the warm feelings she had for F&W and she sought out ways to help the organization through board membership. Now chair of the science department at a PK-12 independent school in Minneapolis, Ann-Marie hopes to spread the F&W message to the Midwest and encourage young people there to experience the wonder of the land through stewardship in the Vermont hills and mountains.

At Farm & Wilderness summer programs, they focus on community, home grown fun and living closely with the natural world. They offer six overnight camps for children ages nine through seventeen, a day camp and a family camp. Four generations of campers have learned a lifelong love of nature and the joy of a simple, participatory life here in the Vermont woods.
