Kristina Martin

Principal Data Scientist at Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis

Kristina Martin has a strong background in data analysis and mathematics. Kristina is currently working as a Principal Data Scientist at the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis since December 2022. Prior to this role, they served as a Senior Quantitative Analyst from December 2020 to December 2022 and as a Quantitative Analyst from May 2019 to December 2020 at the same institution.

Before joining the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis, Kristina worked as an Instructor in the Mathematics Department at the University of Georgia - Franklin College of Arts and Sciences from August 2017 to May 2019.

Kristina also gained valuable experience as an Intern in Model Risk Management at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago from June 2017 to August 2017. During their internship, they focused on utilizing machine learning techniques for credit risk models and evaluated their performance against established methods.

Additionally, Kristina worked as a Graduate Teaching Assistant and Researcher at NC State University from August 2012 to May 2017. Their responsibilities included teaching undergraduate classes in discrete mathematics, precalculus, and calculus. Their research interests include mathematical modeling, optimization, optimal control of partial differential equations, free boundary problems, and fluid-structure interaction.

Kristina has also served as an Operations Manager at Kaplan Test Prep from 2008 to 2011.

Kristina Martin has a Bachelor's degree in Philosophy and Psychology, with a minor in Mathematics, from the University of Colorado Boulder. Kristina then pursued a Post-Baccalaureate in Mathematics at Smith College in 2011-2012. Later, they attended North Carolina State University and obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Applied Mathematics from 2012-2018. Additionally, in 2016, they completed a Math-to-Industry Bootcamp in Data Science and Machine Learning at the Institute for Mathematics and its Applications at the University of Minnesota.
