Dhanasekaren Vedhachalam has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Dhanasekaren started their career as a Lecturer cum Assistant Farm Manager at Sagayathottam Institute of Agriculture and Rural Development, where they taught various courses related to agriculture. Dhanasekaren then worked as a Project Engineer at Maxworth Orchards (India) Ltd, where they gained experience in infrastructural development for horticultural farms. Dhanasekaren also worked as a Lecturer at Muthiah Polytechnic College, teaching agricultural engineering courses. Later, they joined the Ministry of Agriculture in Ethiopia as an Expert in Natural Resources, where they were responsible for curriculum development and training coordination in water harvesting technology. Dhanasekaren then moved on to the role of Deputy Manager at Foundation for Ecological Security (FES), where they coordinated multiple partner NGOs in implementing a watershed development project. Following this, Dhanasekaren joined Reliance Foundation as a Team Leader, where they worked on the BIJ program, focusing on rural development and sustainable agriculture. Currently, they are serving as a Senior Programme Manager at FES, leading livelihood promotion activities in 400 villages and facilitating the formation and strengthening of village institutions. Throughout their career, Dhanasekaren has contributed towards improving the income and sustainable agriculture practices of marginal farmers, as well as promoting innovative techniques in livestock production.
