Michael Edwards, CRCM

Michael Edwards, CRCM, has over 19 years of diverse work experience in the banking and credit union industry. Currently, they serve as the AVP Compliance Management at FinWise Bank, where they are responsible for overseeing compliance efforts. Prior to this role, they held the position of Senior Compliance Manager, where they successfully led a team in ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements for strategic partnership initiatives. Michael also served as the Compliance Manager - Strategic Partnerships, where they managed relationships with fintech partners and implemented comprehensive compliance programs.

Before joining FinWise Bank, Michael worked at Granite Credit Union for five years, where they held multiple roles. As the Compliance Manager, they implemented quality control measures to improve asset quality and mitigate compliance risks. In their role as Compliance Officer, they focused on developing a lending compliance program and introduced new deposit products that resulted in significant growth. Additionally, they served as a Mortgage Officer & Trainer, where they played a crucial role in transitioning the lending model and implementing underwriting programs.

Prior to Granite Credit Union, Michael worked at TransWest Credit Union, where they worked as a Mortgage Loan Processor and Executive Assistant. In the former role, they trained other processors and prepared loan applications for review. As an Executive Assistant, they assisted the CEO in developing programs and policies to address the fallout from the 2008 financial crisis. Michael also contributed to the development of a troubled debt restructure program to address regulatory concerns.

Michael's career began at Utah Power Credit Union as a Member Service Representative.

Michael Edwards, CRCM, has a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration and Management, General from Western Governors University. Michael also attended Western CUNA Management School, where they graduated as the Class Vice President with a specialization in Credit Union Management. In addition, they hold an Associate of Political Science degree with a focus on Political Science and Government from Salt Lake Community College.

Michael has obtained the Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM) certification from the American Bankers Association in April 2022. Michael is also certified as a Certified Regulatory Vendor Program Manager (CRVPM) through the Credit Union National Association. Furthermore, they hold the CompTIA Project+ certification, issued by CompTIA. Michael has an additional certification as a Credit Union Compliance Expert (CUCE), granted by the Credit Union National Association.
