Bill Qualls

Chief Munging Officer Emeritus at First Analytics

Bill Qualls has a long and varied work experience. Bill started as a Programmer/Analyst at May & Speh in 1979, then moved to Systems Consultant at Sears, Roebuck and Co. in 1986. During their time at Sears, they were an IT project leader for two years, then worked in the training department for one year before leaving to pursue teaching full time. In 1989, they became an Assistant Professor of Mathematics at Waubonsee Community College, then in 1997 they were VP Curriculum & Instruction at Caliber Data Training. In 2008, they worked as a Java Programmer at Utilities International, and in 2010 they became an Adjunct Instructor at DePaul University. Most recently, they were Chief Munging Officer Emeritus at First Analytics.

Bill Qualls has a long and varied educational background. Bill obtained a BA in Accounting from Whittier College in 1978, an MBA in Information Systems from Keller Graduate School of Management of DeVry University in 1985, an MS in Applied Mathematics from DePaul University in 1994, an MSEd in Instructional Technology from Northern Illinois University in 2009, and a Master of Science (M.S.) in Predictive Analytics from DePaul University in 2014. Additionally, Qualls has obtained several certifications, including a PMI certified Project Management Professional (PMP) in 2001, a Sun Certified Java Programmer, a SAS Certified Advanced Programmer in 2008, a SAS Certified Statisical Business Analyst in 2015, and a SAS Certified Predictive Modeler using SAS Enterprise Miner in 2018. Furthermore, they have recently obtained certifications from Dataiku, including a Dataiku Core Designer and a Dataiku ML Practitioner in 2021. Finally, they also have certifications from Cloudera, including a Cloudera Certified Administrator for Apache Hadoop and a Cloudera Certified Developer for Apache Hadoop.
