Sophie Bereyne

Sophie Bereyne has extensive experience in environmental management within the mining industry. Currently serving as the Head of Environment & Community at Fitzroy Mining Operations since February 2021, Sophie has also held various roles including Environmental Manager and Environmental Superintendent at the same company. Prior to Fitzroy, Sophie worked as a Senior Health, Safety & Environmental Advisor at Peabody Energy, overseeing environmental operations at Coppabella and Moorvale Mine Sites. Sophi's career also includes a role as Environment & Social Responsibility Supervisor at Aurelia Metals Ltd and as an Environmental Supervisor at New Gold Inc. Starting as a Cadet Environmental Scientist at GSS Environmental and advancing to Graduate Environmental Scientist at KMH Environmental Pty Ltd, Sophie holds a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science and Management from the University of Newcastle.
