Position Summary

The Associate Director of Operations, under minimal direct supervision, leads operational aspects of Flagship’s site services business in North Carolina. This includes: Molecular, Histology, as well as working closely with our on-site Sample Management partner. 

The individual in this position will ensure the operational team is delivering sustained excellence for the organization by working with Senior Leadership to establish the strategic priorities for the group. He/she will identify key resources and provide direction to meet operational objectives, and ensure the team’s appropriate leadership, and management involvement, as appropriate. The team is responsible for meeting monthly and quarterly goals while maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction.

This position requires a highly-motivated and energized individual who can quickly learn Flagship’s value proposition relating to service offerings and strategy, while leveraging their operations leadership and management experience to drive the business forward. The ideal candidate would exhibit high emotional intelligence in daily engagements and see challenges as opportunities to grow, learn and come together to succeed. This individual is a highly collaborative team player and leader, operating with an entrepreneurial mindset that optimizes the current resources and directs positive growth in the company. Essential Job Functions

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations to enhance growth, profitability, and efficiency of the company

  • Manage staffing, supervision, scheduling, development, evaluation, and performance

  • Monitor departments with comprehensive metrics to evaluate and optimize team performance

  • Responsible for development and ultimate management of departmental budgets

  • Understand and support the company’s strategic goals and objectives

  • Translate Executive direction into strategic and tactical plans

  • Interact regularly with the Senior leadership team and individual department heads to ensure that the company’s operational priorities are aligned with total company direction

  • Oversee execution and delivery of projects; ensure projects are quoted properly and are on time, on budget, and within scope

  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required with a strong science technology, pharmaceutical, or clinical research background

  • 5+ years of experience within the CRO industry

  • 2+ years in a leadership role

  • Financial acumen and previous experience with P&L management

  • Solid organizational skills with a focus on attention to detail and accuracy

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage/prioritize multiple tasks

  • Ability to work effectively in a very fast-paced, changing environment

  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Demonstrated ability to interact/communicate effectively with team members across all departments and levels of the organization

  • Knowledge of business practices and revenue management

  • Excellent judgment and problem-solving skills

  • Upbeat attitude and professional demeanor

  • Ability to travel to Flagship’s partners, customer sites and scientific meetings
