Yigal Agam

Associate Director of Bioinformatics at Fluent BioSciences

Yigal Agam has a diverse work experience in the field of bioinformatics and data analysis. Yigal is currently serving as the Associate Director of Bioinformatics at Fluent BioSciences Inc. since November 2022. Prior to this role, they worked as the Principal Bioinformatics Scientist at the same company from October 2021 to October 2022.

Before joining Fluent BioSciences Inc., Yigal held the position of Senior Data Scientist at Miltenyi Biotec from November 2019 to October 2021. In this role, they managed the software and data analysis group and was responsible for developing algorithms and pipelines for the analysis of Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) data.

From January 2018 to November 2019, Yigal worked as a Senior Data Scientist at QIAGEN, where they were involved in the development of a next-generation sequencing (NGS) platform. Yigal'sresponsibilities included providing processing pipelines, analysis tools, and visualization for NGS data, image processing and analysis of sequencing-by-synthesis (SBS) results, and development and testing of graphical applications and analysis tools.

Yigal's work experience also includes a role as a Senior Quality Engineer at MathWorks from October 2014 to January 2018. In this position, they were responsible for testing the functionality of computational biology products, including the Bioinformatics Toolbox and SimBiology. Yigal wrote test suites for Java GUIs and MATLAB-based algorithms.

Prior to their industry experience, Yigal worked as a Cognitive Neuroscientist (PostDoc) at Massachusetts General Hospital / Harvard Medical School from 2008 to 2014. Yigal'sresearch focused on brain imaging of cognitive function in health and psychiatric disorders, and they used MATLAB, R, and Perl/Unix scripting for data analysis.

Yigal also has experience as a Cognitive Neuroscientist (PostDoc) at Boston Children's Hospital / Harvard Medical School from 2007 to 2008. In this role, they conducted research on visual cognition and object recognition using intracranial EEG in epilepsy patients, performing data acquisition, signal and image processing, and statistical analysis.

Overall, Yigal Agam has a strong background in bioinformatics, data analysis, and cognitive neuroscience, with experience in both academic and industry settings.

Yigal Agam received their PhD in Neuroscience from Brandeis University, where they studied from 2003 to 2007.
