James Mugisha has a diverse work experience in various organizations. James is currently working as the Head of Food Security and Livelihoods at Food for the Hungry, Inc. Prior to this, they served as the Program Manager for Agriculture and Rural Finance at Urwego Bank- Hope International from 2018 to 2021. From 2015 to 2018, they worked as a Projects Specialist in Food Security, Agriculture, and Livelihoods at One Acre Fund. James also worked as a Project Coordinator at USAID from 2012 to 2014 and as a Research Assistant at Horizon Sopyrwa from 2009 to 2010.

James Mugisha has a Bachelor's degree in Agriculture from the National University of Rwanda, which they obtained between the years 2008 and 2012. Following this, they pursued a Masters degree in Food security and Agricultural development at Kyungpook National University from 2014 to 2015. Additionally, they have obtained additional certifications in Agriculture and Rural Finance from FAO in 2021, as well as a certification in Certified Agriculture economist from The University of Western Australia in 2015. Moreover, they obtained a certification in Nutrition and Childcare from Indira Gandhi National Open University in 2014.
