Brandi Cantarel has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of bioinformatics. Brandi currently holds the position of VP of Bioinformatics at Form Bio, starting in 2023. Prior to this, they worked as the Director of Bioinformatics at the same company from July 2022 to February 2023.
Before joining Form Bio, Brandi worked at Colossal Biosciences as an Associate Director of Bioinformatics from July 2021 to July 2022. Brandi also served as an Advisor at the company since July 2022.
From November 2016 to July 2021, Brandi worked at UT Southwestern Medical Center, first as an Assistant Professor and later as a Computational Biologist. In their role as a Computational Biologist, they developed resources and tools for a new bioinformatics core, collaborated on research projects, and mentored junior staff.
Before UT Southwestern Medical Center, Brandi worked as a Bioinformatics Research Scientist at Baylor Scott & White Health from March 2013 to October 2015. Brandi also worked as a Research Associate at the Institute for Genome Sciences, Department of Microbiology, University of Maryland School of Medicine from July 2009 to February 2013. In this role, they led and managed various analysis projects, collaborated with researchers, and published multiple research papers.
Brandi's earlier experiences include working as an Adjunct Faculty at Baltimore City Community College from January 2011 to July 2011, a Post-Doctoral Fellow at CNRS, Université de Provence Université de la Méditerranée from November 2007 to June 2009, and a Post-Doctoral Researcher at the University of Utah from June 2006 to June 2007.
Throughout their career, Brandi has demonstrated their expertise in bioinformatics, scientific coordination, research collaboration, and teaching. Brandi has made significant contributions to research projects, published numerous peer-reviewed papers, and been invited to present their work at international conferences and on a syndicated radio show.
Brandi Cantarel received their Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry from the University of Maryland Baltimore County in 2000. Brandi then went on to pursue their PhD in Biochemistry at the University of Virginia from 2001 to 2006.
