Scientist - Strain Engineering at Formo

Ferdinand Schmid began their career in 2013 as a Studentische Hilfskraft at Städtisches Klinikum Karlsruhe gGmbH. In 2014, they moved to Karlsruher Institut für Technologie (KIT) as a Wissenschaftliche Hilfskraft, where they were responsible for conducting fermentations to evaluate various Bacillus strains for surfactin production. In 2016, they remained at KIT, but took on a new role as a Wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter, where they planned and conducted wastewater analysis to identify and quantify antibiotic resistances and resistant pathogens in wastewater treatment plants. In 2018, they took on a Forschungsaufenthalt role at BRAIN Biotech AG. Most recently, in 2022, they became a Scientist - Strain Engineering at Formo.

Ferdinand Schmid's education history includes three degrees from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). Ferdinand earned a Doctor (Ph.D.) in Mikrobiologie, allgemein from 2017 to 2021, a Master of Science (MS) in Mikrobiologie, allgemein from 2013 to 2016, and a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Biologie, allgemein from 2010 to 2013.
