Laurie Paulin has a diverse and extensive work experience in various companies. In 2004, Laurie worked as a .Net Developer at the Department of Housing & Works, where they were involved in coding a complex extranet portal using ASP.NET, VB.NET, C#, and SQL Server 2000. From 2006 to 2007, Laurie worked as an Integration Developer at BHP Billiton, specializing in BizTalk 2004, SAP XI, and SAP xMII development for integrating SAP applications with MES systems. From 2007 to 2009, Laurie was a BI Developer at Rio Tinto, focusing on SAP xMII and BW development and integration with various MES technical systems. At the Department of Mines and Petroleum, Laurie worked as a Solution Architect from 2009 to 2011, overseeing Oracle Financials integration and automation and web application development. From 2011 to 2012, Laurie served as a Technical Project Manager and Solution Architect at Rio Tinto, managing the deployment and upgrade of TIBCO integration platform and Oracle development environments. Laurie then joined BHP Billiton from 2012 to 2019, working as a BI Solution Architect and Data Engineer, responsible for migration, redesign, and conformance of the Iron Ore Data Warehouse. In 2019, Laurie returned to Fortescue Metals Group as a Cloud Data Architect and Data Engineer, performing ELT development, data modeling, and requirements gathering for the company's Data Management capability. Laurie then joined Rio Tinto in 2020 as a Data and Integration Architect, contributing to data and integration projects until 2022. Currently, Laurie holds the position of Lead Data Architect at Fortescue Metals Group.

Laurie Paulin earned a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Accounting & Finance from the University of Western Australia between 1980 and 1984. In addition to their formal education, Laurie has obtained several certifications such as AWS Cloud Quest: Cloud Practitioner from Amazon Web Services (AWS) in 2023, dbt Fundamentals from dbt Labs in 2022, Cloud Analytics Architect, Cloud Analytics Master, and Cloud Analytics Practitioner from Cloud Analytics Academy in 2019 and 2018 respectively. They also have certifications in various data analysis and project management areas such as Exploratory Data Analysis, Getting and Cleaning Data, R Programming, and The Data Scientist's Toolbox, all obtained through Coursera Verified Certificates in 2015. Furthermore, Laurie obtained a PRINCE2 Practitioner certification from APMG-Australasia in February 2012.
