Michael Pearson

Manager And Senior Development Scientist at Freenome

Michael Pearson, PhD, currently serves as Manager and Senior Development Scientist at Freenome since September 2019. Prior to this role, Michael worked as Scientific Manager and Scientist I at Ontera, where significant contributions included developing rapid quantitative genotyping assays and novel methods for genotyping transgene levels. Michael's research experience also includes a position as Research Scientist at the Max Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry, focusing on bacterial and yeast strain development, and as a Postdoctoral Research Scientist involved in isolating active spliceosomes. Earlier career highlights include work as a Teaching Assistant at UC Santa Cruz and research technician roles at the University of Missouri and Baylor College of Medicine, where DNA constructs and sequencing methods for genetic analysis were developed. Michael earned a PhD in Molecular, Cell & Developmental Biology from the University of California, Santa Cruz, and a B.S. in Biochemistry from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
