Rich Steele

Chief Engineer at FreeWire Technologies

Rich Steele is a co-founder of FreeWire Technologies, Inc. and serves as Chief Engineer. He spearheaded the creation of the Mobi Charger and Mobi Gen product lines from development to production. Prior to joining FreeWire, Rich worked in the lithium-ion battery industry, developing and managing pack technologies at Leyden Energy before its acquisition by A123 Systems. His previous roles included several years in aerospace testing missile and satellite components, as well as designing and building a general payload system (GPS) that flew on every U.S. space shuttle mission. In addition, Rich spent several years in biotech redesigning, testing and manufacturing various Class II medical devices. He served as a U.S. Delegate at the inaugural Global Clean Vehicle Summit (GCVS) in Changzhou, China. He holds a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from DeVry University, with a focus on electronics, physics, and free space optics (FSO).
