Jamie Grefe has a diverse work experience across various industries. In 2001, they worked as a Japanese Language Tutor at the GVSU Tutoring Center. From 2004 to 2009, they worked at Interac, where they were a Language Consultant and later an ICT (Independently Contracted Trainer). During their time at Interac, they administered exams and led seminars on teaching strategies. In 2004, Jamie also worked as a Freelance Translator at the University of Osaka Prefecture. From 2009 to 2010, they served as an Assistant Director and Video Editor at RIRE Inc. In 2010, they became an English Language Arts Teacher at Tsinghua International School until 2013. From 2013 to 2016, Jamie worked as a Screenwriter, specializing in feature-length and episodic screenplays. From 2014 to 2016, they were an English Language Arts Teacher at Taos Integrated School of the Arts. From 2016 to 2020, Jamie worked as a Training Coordinator for the Product Team at VS Media. Their latest role is as a Training and Content Specialist at FriendFinder Networks Inc., where they are actively involved in creative strategy, content management, and community moderation.

Jamie Grefe obtained a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degree in Creative Writing from New England College from 2014 to 2016. Prior to that, Jamie earned a Bachelor's degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences/Liberal Studies from Grand Valley State University between 1999 and 2003. In addition to their formal education, Jamie also holds additional certifications as a Life Coach from the Transformation Academy, obtained in August 2019, and as an NLP Practitioner & Master Practitioner from the Complementary Therapists Accredited Association, also obtained in August 2019.
